🌬️ Respia Support
Welcome to Respia support. We're here to help you get the most out of your breathing practice.
Getting Started
How do I start a breathing exercise?
Simply open the app, go to the Breathing tab, and tap the "Start" button. Follow the visual breathing circle and audio cues:
- Circle expands = Inhale deeply
- Circle contracts = Exhale naturally
- Listen for the gong sound at each transition
- Beautiful ripple animations indicate phase changes
How do I start a cold exposure session?
Go to the Cold Exposure tab, select your activity type (Ice Bath, Cold Shower, etc.), set your duration, and tap "Start". The timer continues running even if you background the app, and you'll get a notification when it completes.
What is the Wim Hof Method?
The Wim Hof breathing technique involves:
- 30 deep breaths (inhale fully, exhale naturally)
- Breath retention after exhale (hold as long as comfortable)
- Recovery breath: deep inhale and hold for 15 seconds
- Repeat for 3 rounds
Respia guides you through this process with visual cues, audio guidance, and haptic feedback.

How does Apple Health integration work?
Respia automatically saves your completed sessions to Apple Health as Mind & Body workouts. You'll be asked for permission when you complete your first exercise. You can manage permissions in iPhone Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > Respia.
Where is my data stored?
All exercise history, streaks, and preferences are stored locally on your device. HealthKit data is managed by Apple's Health app. We don't have any servers or backend systems—your data stays on your device.
How do widgets work?
Add Respia widgets to your home screen to see your breathing and cold exposure streaks at a glance. Widgets update automatically after you complete exercises. To add a widget:
- Long press on your home screen
- Tap the "+" button
- Search for "Respia"
- Choose small or medium widget size
- Tap "Add Widget"
Troubleshooting
I can't hear the gong sound
- Check your device volume
- Ensure silent mode is off
- Check audio settings in the app (Settings tab)
- Try restarting the app
The app won't sync to Health
- Go to iPhone Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > Respia
- Ensure all permissions are enabled
- Complete a new exercise to retry sync
- Check that HealthKit is enabled in Settings > Privacy & Security > Health
My streaks aren't updating
- Make sure you complete the full exercise (all rounds for breathing, full duration for cold exposure)
- Check that the app has permission to track your activity
- Try closing and reopening the app
- Widgets may take a few minutes to update—this is normal
Widgets aren't showing my streaks
- Widgets update automatically but may take 15-30 minutes
- Try removing and re-adding the widget
- Complete an exercise to trigger an immediate update
- Make sure you're using iOS 17.0 or later
Cold exposure timer loses time when I background the app
This has been fixed in version 1.3+. The timer now persists correctly when backgrounded. If you're experiencing issues:
- Make sure you're running the latest version
- The timer saves timestamps and calculates elapsed time accurately
- You'll receive a notification when the timer completes, even if the app is closed
My subscription isn't working
- Check your subscription status in iPhone Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions
- Make sure you're signed in with the correct Apple ID
- Try restoring purchases in the app (Settings tab)
- Contact Apple Support if payment issues persist
My history isn't showing
Exercise history is saved after completing exercises. For breathing exercises, complete all rounds. For cold exposure, complete the full duration. If you reset or quit before completion, the session won't be saved.
