Privacy Policy for Respia

TL;DR - Your Privacy is Guaranteed: Respia has NO backend servers and ZERO data collection. All data stays on YOUR device. We cannot see, access, collect, or use any of your information—ever. HealthKit data is stored locally in Apple Health, which you fully control. We have no databases, no servers, and no way to access your data.
1. Where Your Data is Saved After Each Session
When you complete a breathing or cold exposure session, here's exactly what happens:
Step 1: Session data is automatically saved in the app's History tab on your device (local storage)
Step 2: If you've granted Apple Health permission, the workout is also saved to Apple Health on your device
Step 3: If you use iCloud Health, Apple syncs the Health data between YOUR devices (iPhone ↔ Watch) privately—we are not involved
Respia stores the following data locally on your device only:
- Session History (in app): Date, time, duration, number of rounds, breath counts, and retention times
- Apple Health (if permitted): Workouts and respiratory rate measurements
- App Preferences: Settings and customizations you make within the app
We do NOT collect:
- Personal identifying information (name, email, phone)
- Location data
- Device information
- Usage analytics
- Crash reports
2. HealthKit Integration (100% Private)
With your explicit permission, Respia saves your session data to Apple Health on YOUR device only:
- Save completed breathing sessions as "Mind & Body" workouts
- Record respiratory rate (breaths per minute)
- Store exercise duration and metadata
Critical Privacy Facts:
- Zero Backend: Respia has no servers or databases—we literally cannot access your HealthKit data
- Apple Controls Everything: All HealthKit data is managed exclusively by Apple's Health app on your device
- We Can't See Your Data: Even if we wanted to (which we don't), we have no technical ability to access your health information
- iCloud Sync is Private: If you use iCloud, your health data syncs between YOUR devices (iPhone ↔ Watch) via Apple's encrypted sync—never through our servers (we don't have any!)
- Optional: HealthKit permission is completely optional - the app works fully without it
- Full Control: You can revoke HealthKit permissions anytime in iOS Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > Respia
3. Data Storage (Everything Stays On Your Device)
- Local Storage Only: All session data and preferences are stored on your device using iOS's secure storage
- No Backend Infrastructure: We don't operate any servers, databases, cloud storage, or backend systems of any kind
- No Remote Access: We have no technical capability to access, view, or retrieve any data from your device
- No Data Transmission: Zero data is sent over the internet to us (because we have nowhere to receive it!)
- iCloud Health Sync: The only "cloud" involved is Apple's iCloud Health sync (if you enable it), which syncs your HealthKit data privately between your own devices—we never touch this data
4. Data Sharing
We do NOT:
- Share your data with third parties
- Sell your data
- Use your data for advertising
- Track your usage or behavior
- Collect analytics or crash reports
5. Your Rights
You have complete control over your data:
- Delete All Data: Delete the app to permanently remove all data
- Export Data: Exercise data can be viewed in the History tab
- HealthKit Control: Manage HealthKit permissions in iOS Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > Respia
6. Children's Privacy
Respia is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect any personal information from children or adults.
7. Security
Your data is protected by iOS's built-in security features. Since all data stays on your device and is never transmitted to any servers, the security of your data is entirely managed by your device's security (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, etc.).
Why No Backend is More Secure:
- No servers means no server breaches
- No databases means no database hacks
- No data transmission means no interception risk
- Your data can never leak from our servers because we don't have any
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted at this URL with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
9. Payment Information and In-App Purchases
Premium Subscriptions and In-App Purchases:
Respia offers premium subscriptions (monthly, yearly) and a lifetime purchase option. All payment processing is handled exclusively by Apple through the App Store.
We do NOT:
- Collect any payment card information
- Store any payment details
- Have access to your payment methods or billing information
- Process any payments directly
- Store or track your purchase history
- Receive any personally identifiable information from Apple about your purchases
- Access your subscription status beyond what Apple provides for app functionality
Apple handles all:
- Payment processing and validation
- Payment information storage
- Purchase receipts and records
- Subscription management and renewals
- Refund processing
- Family Sharing eligibility
Subscription Status: Respia checks subscription status locally on your device using Apple's StoreKit framework. This information is used solely to determine premium feature access and is never transmitted to any servers.
Your payment information is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
10. Third-Party Services
Respia does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or social media platforms. The only exception is Apple's App Store for payment processing of optional tips, which is governed by Apple's terms and privacy policies.
